Collection Management Services

With our growing reputation and visibility, museums, institutions, and other entities with large diverse collections of personal property increasingly approach Caroline Ashleigh Associates.

In response, we have designed a process for including the expertise of colleagues from across the country and obtain assignements that would otherwise not be available, and also benefit from project coordination by Caroline Ashleigh Associates.

So how does it work?

  1. Caroline Ashleigh Associates is approached by a collection with valuation needs, or identifies such a collection and makes initial contact. Caroline Ashleigh, AAA visits and surveys the collection and discusses the valuation needs with the administrator.
  2. Caroline Ashleigh contacts selected colleagues with the needed expertise and discusses the potential job in general terms.
  3. It is frequently necessary for colleagues and other professionals to also visit the collection or review inventory records and prepare estimates.
  4. Caroline and her staff then prepare and submit a formal proposal that addresses the scope of the collections, the services to be provided, the professionals to be used, the budget and timetable.
  5. Follow up and further discussions with the client lead to the acceptance of the proposal and receipt of a retainer check by Caroline Ashleigh Associates, LLC.
  6. Any adjustments in the original proposal/contract that need to be made as a result of onsite discoveries or changes in assignments are discussed and resolved between Caroline and the collection administrator.
  7. Throughout the process, Caroline serves as coordinator to make the job progress as easily and expeditiously as possible.
